Waste Management is allowing locals to dump their 'good' trash for free.
Click here for a link to their offices. Note there's a strange note about whether you can dump in downtown Reno or not, so we can't say for sure if you can. call them to double check.
April 20 to April 25, 2009April 27 to April 29, 20097:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. / CLOSED SUNDAYS
This service is offered annually in conjunction with Earth Day activities and is to encourage the clean up of homes and neighborhoods. Citizens should take advantage of this free service provided by Waste Management to dispose of their items legally.
FAQ:
Is there a limit to the number of times a citizen can dump during the week?
Citizens are encouraged to maximize their load so that as few trips as necessary are required. Unnecessary trips to the landfill create emissions that are harmful to the environment.
Is there a limit to the size of the load that would qualify for a free dump?
The service is for the residential consumer so we recommend a standard size pick up. Any load that is perceived as commercial will be charged at the posted gate rate.
Is there anything that you will not accept?
Only items from the normal waste stream will be accepted. No hazardous or special waste. Paint cans must be dried out or solidified with sand or kitty litter. The free dump does not include Freon removal on refrigerator items. Recycling of batteries, oil and anti-freeze is available.
Do citizens need to provide any type of proof of residency, etc?
This service is for citizens of Washoe County and they will be asked where they live.
